The Chief of Staff concluded his visit to the United States
The official mission included the participation of the head of the Federal Intelligence Agency (AFI), Silvestre Sivori, and involved meetings with officials from the United States government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) with the purpose of strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The Chief of Staff, Nicolás Posse, was received by the Chief of Staff of the United States Southern Command (US Southcom), Major General Scott A. Jackson, in Florida. During the meeting, which was part of the official agenda of Posse in the United States, he and the head of the AFI, Silvestre Sívori, discussed regional security issues.
In addition, the mission included meetings with officials from the United States government as well as the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The purpose of the visit was to enhance the bilateral relationship between the two countries through a series of previously scheduled exchanges that were strengthened since the participation of the Argentine delegation in the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The agenda comprised an audience with the Undersecretary for International Affairs of the United States Treasury, Jay Shambaugh, and a meeting with the First Deputy Managing Director of the IMF, Gita Gopinath, the director of the Western Hemisphere Department, Rodrigo Valdés, and the Deputy Director of the Western Hemisphere Department, Luis Cubeddu.
During this meeting, which preceded the seventh review of the agreement by the organization, IMF authorities expressed their support for the economic reforms implemented by the Argentine government and reviewed the ongoing challenges.
Nicolás Posse, along with the head of the AFI, Silvestre Sívori, were also received by the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), William J. Burns.
